ORIGINAL STORY (11:52 AM): Ghost of Tsushima was a brilliant game. It was arguably the best game to not only grace the year 2020, but also the PS4 and the whole of the eighth console generation. It has gotten an equally brilliant multiplayer component, Legends, as free DLC. But now, Sucker Punch Productions has finally announced its first paid DLC in the form of a Director’s Cut. Technically, though, Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is a combination of the base game and the Iki Island expansion. Said island is a neighbour of Tsushima, and was also part of the invasion of Japan by the Mongols. The island will be accessible once you get into Act 2 of the main game. And once you’re there, you’ll have new moves and armour to acquire, new enemy types to face, and even new animals to pet. One of the main criticisms of the game was the lack of Japanese lip sync. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut addresses this, but the announcement post makes it sound like a PS5-exclusive feature. Other features for the new generation console includes the use of adaptive triggers and haptic feedback on the DualSense. Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut releases on 20 August, for both the PS4 and PS5. At the time of writing, no local pricing has been announced yet. But the announcement post states that the prices are US$59.99 (~RM250) and US$69.99 (~RM291), respectively. If you already own the base game, then this goes down to US$19.99 (~RM83), or US$29.99 (~RM125) if you upgrade straight to the PS5 version of the Director’s Cut. Upgrading from the PS4 to PS5 version of the Director’s Cut, on the other hand, costs US$9.99 (~RM42). Update: PlayStation Asia says that the price of Ghost of Tsushima Director’s Cut is RM249 and RM299 for the PS4 and PS5 versions, respectively. If you already own the base PS4 game, then adding the DLC costs RM89, or RM129 for the PS5 version. Upgrading from the PS4 version of the Director’s Cut to the PS5 version, on the other hand, will be priced at RM50. (Source: PlayStation [1], [2])
