The new TVs are offered in 48, 55, 65, 77, 83 and 88 inches, with the first and last respectively touted to be world’s smallest and largest OLED TVs ever produced. All six models feature a slim side profile, thinner bezels for a more immersive viewing experience, and are built from lightweight composite-fibre materials that allows for easy installation. All models come with LG’s most advanced OLED technology yet. According to the company, the new “OLED evo” panels deliver 100% colour volume and fidelity for closer-to-life images with high clarity and detail. It also features the first-party “self-lit” pixel technology which, as implied by its name, allows each pixel on the panel to individually light up to display colour, or turn off completely to achieve perfect black. This eliminates the need of backlighting on the new TVs, which is often the cause of on-screen halo effects and poor contrast. LG boasts that the technology is able to show the tiniest star in the darkest sky with absolute precision and clarity on-screen.
Under the hood of the new LG OLED evo TVs is the company’s latest Alpha 9 Gen 5 AI processor that leverages deep learning to enhance performance and provide improved picture quality. According to LG, the chip enables for high frame rate support of up to 120 fps; automatic colour, sharpness, and depth enhancement; AI-enhanced image upscaling up to 8K resolution; as well as advanced noise reduction. It also comes with Brightness Booster Max Technology which allows for more screen brightness without producing much heat. Besides that, all models come with the typical yet essential smart TV features powered by LG’s WebOS22 platform. These include several pre-installed streaming apps, TV-to-TV mirroring, the picture frame-like Gallery Mode, and many more. Also not forgetting the numerous gaming-centric enhancements, including compatibility with NVIDIA G-SYNC and FreeSync Premium, variable refresh rate support, “ultra-fast” 1 ms response time, and low input lag. Audio-wise, they also feature LG’s AI Sound Pro feature which enables their built-in speakers to produce virtual 7.1.2 surround sound.
